Last week, realtor.com announced it officially integrated Matterport 3D Showcase into their iOS app, enabling home buyers to explore Matterport Spaces from their iPhone or iPad. Users of realtor.com’s iOS app will now see a 3D icon overlaid on the featured photo of listings that are equipped with the tours. This empowers real estate agents to better engage realtor.com’s consumer base by featuring their listings in immersive 3D on their most commonly used devices. Matterport Spaces can also be made available on realtor.com’s primary website.
If an agent or Matterport Service Partner has captured a listing using Matterport, the 3D tour will automatically be made available on the listing if the Space has been opted in to Matterport’s syndication feed*. The heavily-used app features both for-sale listings and rental listings and contains the largest inventory of Matterport Spaces of any real estate app. This integration marks a huge leap forward for Matterport – bringing 3D and virtual reality real estate marketing to a huge mainstream national audience. Realtor.com is one of the largest sources of residential real estate, with 50 million unique users per month and 128 million average monthly visits.

“3D virtual tours are proving to be an extremely important feature in home search for buyers, and the technology is emerging as a key point of differentiation for the real estate professionals who make this available to their clients,” said Ryan O’Hara, CEO of Move. “We are very pleased to be working alongside Matterport to help facilitate the availability of this emerging technology in real estate, and in the ongoing advances of the experience on realtor.com.”
According to recent research from realtor.com®, consumers rank 3D virtual home tours as the second most desired feature in the home search experience, behind large, high quality photos.
Realtor.com is capitalizing on the ever-growing wave of momentum around 3D and VR experiences by also laying the foundation for additional 3D integrations. Later this spring, Realtor.com will be rolling out native Matterport integration to their Android app and their desktop website, which would bring Matterport front-and-center to their entire user base. Realtor.com joins other powerhouse real estate companies, including Redfin and Sotheby’s International Realty, by integrating Matterport’s 3D experiences to their listing pages, with others expected to follow suit in the coming months.
